Two groups of elected officials serve our church, the board of deacons and the session.
The Board of Deacons consists of 12 members. "The office of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ...It is the duty of deacons, first of all, to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith." (Book of Order, G-6.0401-2)
FPC Deacons serve by:
Hospital, home and telephone visits to homebound members
Delivering Easter lilies and Christmas poinsettias
Preparing and setting communion
Changing the paraments and keeping the sanctuary in order
Providing transportation to and from the church
Staffing the chapel during the 10:30 service
Operating the elevator
Supporting each others' lives of ministry
Building and Grounds
Christian Education
Evangelism and Membership
Finance and Stewardship
Leadership Development
Mission/Social Concerns
Music and Worship
Personnel
